Well, Amtrak is the worst of paradoxes. It purveys completely inconsistent service on an inadequate set of routes while being starved of funding, sabotaged by the RRs and pilloried by Teabaggers.I still find riding passenger trains a pleasure even though I am old enough to remember truly first class operations like the Q, ACL, SAL, NP, WP, GN, and ATSF. While I also once rode the real Broadway Ltd when it was still a serious train, my following trips were after the PC downgrades and then the Amtrak versions none of which deserved the name. |
