It was bad for a while, but right now it's doing better than it ever has, with no signs of slowing down. During the government shutdown, Amtrak said it would be able to cover 74% of service without federal funding.Were Amtrak not created, we wouldn't even have a shell of a national rail system today. The west and east costs would have their corridor routes, along with some random midwest ones funded by the states, and that's *it*. |
