There was a guy by the name of David Oats who I went to high school with. Long story short, among many things concerning Flushing Meadow Park, he did a lot to try & save & maintain the Worlds Fair structures left up after the park closed. He also fought for the dismantiling of the USA Pavillion, which was pretty much in a state of ruins when the wrecking ball finally showed up.He would have loved to be here for the anniversary. He passed away in 2008, way too young at 58. Interesting story about him in last Fridays Daily News. Mini Bio available on Google. |
