Planned Service Changes for the 2 3 4 Lines For Five Weekends in Brooklyn
Shuttle Buses Replace Trains for Five Consecutive Weekends Beginning May 2

MTA NYC Transit will be performing major switch replacement, and maintenance related work on the (2) (3) (4) lines in Brooklyn for five consecutive weekends.

From 11:30 p.m. Friday night until 5:00 a.m. Monday morning during the weekends of May 2-5, May 9-12, May 16-19, May 23-27 (until Tuesday Memorial Day weekend), and May 30-June 2, 2014,
(2) trains will be suspended between Franklin Av and Flatbush Av-Brooklyn College.
(3) trains will be suspended.
(4) trains will be suspended between Atlantic Av-Barclays Center and New Lots Av.
Free shuttle buses will provide alternate service to New Lots Av and Flatbush Av making stops at all affected stations.

During this five week diversion, switches will be replaced at Nostrand Av and President St. The replacement of these switches is critical to the safe operation of trains along the Eastern Parkway corridor. Taking advantage of this suspension, other necessary maintenance work will include extensive repairs to a circuit breaker house, the replacement of track north of the President St station, the installation of new wooden ties and concrete track bed, track maintenance along the elevated (3) line structure between Sutter Av-Rutland Rd and New Lots Av, and the completion of switch reconstruction at New Lots Av.

“We realize this will be an inconvenience to our customers, however this work is vital to improve the reliability of service along the (2) (3) (4) lines,” said Subways Senior Vice President Joseph Leader. “The bulk of this work is being done on weekends to avoid setting up a “slow speed,” which normally would require a reduction in rush-hour service. We appreciate the community’s patience as we complete this important switch replacement project, and necessary maintenance work.”

Posters at all affected stations will be posted prior to the commencement of work, announcements will be made aboard trains, and NYC Transit personnel will staff affected stations to offer customers assistance.
