I really can't say, but I remember reading an article somewhere indicating that was the plan. Actually, as part of the plan if the 50 Bluebirds were insufficient for the level of service anticipated to be operated, Multis would have been used to complete the service requirements. The BMT's idea was to use cars with the higher acceleration and deceleration of the Bluebirds and Multis to give the passengers a fast a ride to downtown Bkln as the older express trains could do. Remember, even back then there was sufficient employment in downtown Bkln to warrant such a service. |
