I first rode Newark City Subway around 1960 and on my many railfanning trips to Newark on the Hudson Tubes and later PATH, I always managed to take a trip on the City Subway over the years. It was the closest place for me to ride PCCs since Bkln and DC trolleys shut down and I really didn't have the opportunity to go the Philly or Boston. I had ridden Bkln PCCs when I was younger and thanks to my uncle who lived in the DC area, was able to ride DC's PCCs quite a bit including the ERA's fan trips on the last day of operation in 1962. |
