I always found it ironic that the City could find $$$ to spend for Unification, instead of the 2nd Ave subway. They spent $5 million to shore up the 6th Ave el, so they should have just left it up, watch ridership decline (like 9th Ave el), and buy the Manhattan els at cheaper prices, later on. Blame it on LaGuardia, who wanted the 6th Ave el gone ASAP. |
