Either you can Keep on dreaming or you don't live close enough in the Tri-State to be paying those types of fares. The MTA in its umbrella form of protection ENSURE their layers of administration never go away. You can't take Two public service Authorities, merge them into one, and keep the existing levels of management and administration run by an organization that on its own went from 700 Civil Service managers to over 5500 non Civil Service during the Gunn era. In my last 11 years, except for the last two budgets involving FEMA $$$, almost all of them were balanced with their OWN income. Not fluff money expected from Hudson yard "air rights", projected income from "expected" real estate sales which turned south anyway, phone taxes that have little to do with transportation, write offs from 2 Broadway and free metrocard money the victims haven't come for yet. |
