They don't have enough equipment. Here's the IRT fleet in 1969: 2923 cars; 2561 peak + 362 spares. 396 cars required for peak operation on the #7. Here's today's car assignments showing only 352 cars used on the #7. Here's a look at the fleet total of 2770 cars. That's down from 2923 back in the 1960's. |
