The new LIRR & Metro-North M-9 cars that will replace the M-3's in 2017 will feature a wider car (2 inches),additional seating (relocated equipment storage),wider seats, redesigned smooth armrests, pushbutton pocket doors for easier movement between cars, larger windows, automatic interior & exterior PA systems, upgraded AC and sophisticated diagnostic equipment for servicing,WiFi, digital and visual announcements. Color schemes will be determined by focus groups. |
