I was wondering about one of the bulkhead rollsigns on the R1/9 that read: "Houston/Essex"....that would have been the station. Near the ending of the 2nd Avenue station middle tracks (which continues 535 ft after the station; B5 and B6 tracks, I believe), the tracks begin to separate and end at bumper blocks. At the end of the tracks at the bumper blocks, there is a provision of a center track which only extends about 30 feet and it stops at the bulkhead or a diamondcrossover at the end of the tunnel. |
