Oh wait- I need to clarify when I said I was talking about only parts in existence today. I meant I was only listing places that exist today where I haven't been.While I did in fact, unfortunately miss the L train snaking over Snediker Ave.,I have seen and used the now closed platforms at Canal St & Bowery. Also, I don't think I've been on the A between Rockaway Blvd & Lefferts. In 1999, I did a tremendous amount of railfanning, and I continued to do until 2003 or so. Then, my job takes me to a lot of different places, so except as noted, I've seen most of the currently existing system, as well Bowery & Canal before the platforms were closed off. Among the parts that disappeared in my lifetime (born 1968), I missed almost all of them- the Myrtle & (Bronx) Third Avenue Els, the Culver Shuttle, the last 5 stations on Jamaica Avenue, and even Dean Street on the Franklin. I don't remember ever riding the South Ferry shuttle, but it's possible that I did, as we went there when I was a kid. |
