Another route they could take (although I doubt the Housatonic is suitable for passenger operations) would be to take the Danbury branch north from S Norwalk, around the balloon track at the old Danbury station, then head east along the Housatonic RR (the old Maybrook line) to Derby, then south along the Waterbury branch to Devon where they would rejoin the NEC. They would need diesels only between Norwalk and Devon. It would be a railfan's dream but highly unlikely. |
