Big Rig and Train Collide in Aromas

AROMAS, Calif. — CHP is on scene at an accident near 170 Quarry Road and Carpenteria Road. Officers got the call of the big rig and Amtrak collision around 12:45 p.m.

The Amtrak conductor told CHP the big rig was driving westbound on Quarry Road when it took a right turn onto a private road, that's when it hit the train. The entire trailer on the big rig was destroyed.

Amtrak told Central Coast News that no passengers were injured. There were 246 people onboard. The driver of the big rig was sent to the hospital with minor injures.

CHP is continuing the investigate the cause of the crash.
