Long-term, any commuter line with even semi-decent use should be electrifiedNo, there's no cause to electrify "semi-decent" because of not only the cost of infrastructure but also the cost of maintaining the infrastructure. Whether you like to hear it or not, if NYC wasn't so dead-against allowing steam locomotives into Manhattan, the vast majority of commuter rail in and out of the city would be diesel. |
