And yet several RR properties disagree with you. . . or the politicians that run them? Aside from the new cars being bought to replace the Heritage cars, what new cars is Amtrak buying? Read this as far as the single-levels. The intent is to replace all Amfleet and Horizon cars. Strangely, the Amfleet IIs are intended to be the first to go, then the Amfleet Is and after that the Horizons. The only comments on NJT's MLVs in there have to do with number of seats and through train access concerns. Getting rid of the mid-train high-level-only doors means more seats at the mid level. Why would you say that? Looks like memories are short when it comes to the Amtrak vs. BBD lawsuit with respect to the Acela Express. I would have thought that Amtrak going with CAF would have said it all. |
