I could swear I either recorded it, or somebody sent me a copy of it on DVD. Couldn't find it last night, so now not so sure. But I did see it twice and never gave waterproofing a thought either since the episode suggested that it was going to be one continuous "bathtub" that probably wouldn't have needed it. It was interesting seeing though how they had planned to dig under around and beside everything, digging under the park without digging UP the park and how deep down the rock cuts were for it.

Typical method of waterproofing these days is to use sheets of PVC that are welded at the seams, In cut and cover excavations the PVC is attached to the shoring and the concrete is poured. The roof of the box is poured, the top of the sheets are folded over and welded to the sheets placed on the roof. In bored tunnels the PVC is attached to the outer lining then the inter lining is poured. The stuff that WMATA has built sense late 1980s has used this method of waterproofing.

The way some of that under and around rock excavation was done seemed rather primitive to me.

What I would have wrote could not been used as an i told you so.
