Although the between track columns were not damaged, the force of the collision forced one of the cars up through the roof of the tunnel and although it may have been fully repaired by now, I was told that as of 1959 when I first heard about the accident, the roof of the tunnel in that area was only repaired by wooden planking and not concrete. |
