Barriers will slow the trains down and reduce the service making the platforms more crowded. MTA is quickly settling on the 60' car with standard openings. The IRT is now fully standard in its doors, or maybe it is not. But you can start where you are. Make the Lex Exp 100% R142 and build a four foot high wall between tracks and platform, with openings for the doorways.But like LION says: It will slow the subways down and increase crowding.
