They don't have enough capacity for Regionals - most are now 8 - 9 car Amfleets.Removing a coach and the Bistro for Keytsone would be a good working retirement for them, and keep one of the power units off-line, as it would be way over-powered. Whether they want to is another matter. Amtrak puts a hell of a lot more mileage on their equipment within a given time frame than commuter railroads do. |
