Myabe some vandal push the emergency stop button just before you got there?

A quick check of the MTA's website reveals that the Bleecker St escalator between the northbound (6) platform and the mezzanine is out for repairs. The outage is reported from 9/28/12 6:43am. It is not expected to go back into service until 9/30/12 12:00am.

The original poster recorded the outage on 9/27/12 23:01. There's a gap of nearly 8 hours between when Mr. zac recorded the outage and NYCT's website documents it responded.

I have no idea of the original cause of the escalator's malfunction. Nor do I care to speculate. However, I do believe NYCT's recorded 7+ hour response time is a measure of NYCT's nonfeasance in maintaining the system.
