The station I was thinking of is not the one that was called Morris Park (which now serves as a clubhouse for some local group), but rather the one called Westchester, which was an island platform between the tracks. You can see in the picture how the tracks separated for the platform just south of where the new platform is supposed to be. The old one was even slightly closer to Einstein Hospital, and certainly to Calvary. But the new one is closer to Hutchinson Metro Center. And it looks to be much more elaborate than the old one ever was.All the proposed stations are at or near the sites of former stations: Co-op City was Baychester Morris Park was Westchester (not Morris Park) Parkchester was Van Nest Hunts Point was Hunts Point, the only one of the four to keep the same name (Information on the former stations comes from Joe Brennan's page on abandoned Bronx railroad stations.) |
