It's almost the reverse of what we experienced when the GOH'ed cars were put in service. Back then, this was normal and the clean cars of today evoked the strong response. The summer of 1987 was my first experience with the overhauled slants. The only other type in service before this was the R38's, which debuted in February. I still remember my first ride on one, and I did not recognize it as the older type. I thought it was a brand new car class. |
