"Bedford Ave would be the most opportune avenue for either a El or subway routing."TunnelRat says that there is a tunnel which was built by the Brooklyn Rapid Transit Company that is below the Crosstown G Line west of directly below this station. This tunnel was obviously built before the Crosstown Line. It supposed to be a 2 track subway tunnel and elevated line that was built in anticipation for a BRT Crosstown El/Subway. I don't think this exists though. The line was supposed to connect to the Franklin Avenue – Fulton Street station on the BMT Franklin Avenue Line to the Queensboro Plaza station in Queens. The built-but-never-used tunnel runs for about 600 feet and has 2 trackways. Here's proff:
