The green R10's were the loudest cars I ever rode. During the summer they were literally ear-splitting as they sped through the Cranberry St. tubes. The R10 overhaul didn't include much more than a tuneup, some new rollsigns (in B&W and only including 4 routes) and a new paintjob. These cars really went downhill in their last year when they were used all day long, instead of mostly during rush hour.

The R30's ran nicer, much like the R36WF cars. They retained signature SMEE sounds, particularly when the doors closed. Had these cars had A/C they probably would have remained in service another 7-9 years.
