For that to happen, the R46s would have to be modified to FRA standards since the tracks that the R44SIRs run on are (to my most recent knowledge) freight tracks, and not subway tracks per se. The costs inherent in that vis-a-vis the MTAs current financial position preclude that possibility pretty much. |
