I was under the impression that the last run was on the BMT #16 (14th Street-Canarsie LL) or on the BMT #5 (Culver Shuttle). In early April 1969 Standards were providing half the service on the #16 (LL) and #10 (M) as well as the #5 (SS). By the end of May, 1969 there were 66 cars available for service. They probably came off the Culver Shuttle in early June. In late June there were still three trainsets on the Canarsie and two on the Myrtle. They were all supposed to be out of service by July 25 , 1969 but equipment shortages kept them running until August 4. This information is courtesy of Mr Berard Linder and Mr Arthur Lonto. I was out of the city at the time helping Uncle Sam guard South Dakota from an attack by those ferocious Canadians. Larry, RedbirdR33 |
