Growing up along the Brighton Line in the 1950s, the Standards were like a member of the family. Their sounds and smells defined the subway for me and always will. They, the Low V's and the R1/9s ARE and will always be the NYC subway for me, but the Standards are the BMT, the Brighton Line, and childhood. |
