The R-10s used to take the curve before 125th n/b at a good clip. I heard the reason that whole business was put in was to prevent a runaway train from roaring into 125th. Locals go tearing around that curve. Go figure.There's a similar deal going n/b along 4th Ave. in Brooklyn. Regardless of the equipment, expresses build up a good head of steam to the point where they're screaming past 9th St., then abruptly hit the brakes and plod the rest of the way to Pacific St. |
