That happened to me in Montreal last year. I know a little french and asked the station attendant in French if she spoke English. She didn't and directed me to someone who did.The rest of the trip, I "Bonjoured" or "Mercied" all the operators and badly murdered the french language at a local McDonalds where the guy who waited on me realized I was English and politely spoke it to me. I'm pretty sure in his head, he was like "Stupid Americans!!!" |
