While I can't answer for anybody else, I think the principal reason fro this mass obsession is the mystery surrounding whether or not anything including a partial station shell was constructed behind that wall. Utica upper, So 4 St, and Roosevelt Av don't engender the same obsession since they either were at some point, or in some cases still are, accessible, at least to NYCTA employees, and they have been documented in photographs. This is not the case with 76 St unless someone who was in there at some point in the past has taken photos and is keeping them as much of a secret as the very existence of the station shell itself. |
