So that city has several lines each w/one off equipment.IIRC, the RFP for the Canada Line indicated that PPP was "necessary" for the financing of the line, and that inter-compatibility would end up rigging the bid toward Bombardier, so that requirement was eliminated to ensure fairness with the other bidders. FWIW, given that the line is fully automated, they're probably capable of stupid pet tricks with tighter headways before they'll need to go to multiple cars, especially since they have nearly no labour costs for operating trains. Allegedly, TransLink and the PPP partner were never expecting such high levels of usage. BTW, I'll quickly note that the Evergreen Line is being built as an extension of the existing Millennium Line and thus using existing BBD ART design specs. |
