Until 2 weeks ago, they were using cars built during the Cuban Missile crisis. SEPTA has still not recovered it's pre-1983 strike ridership. It's still not restored service to Quakertown, Newton, Reading or West Chester. They have absolutely no automated ticketing machines. They run the bare minimum length trains on every line. Some of it's stations are an embarrassment (Eddington). Need I go on? SEPTA is an underfunded joke of a system. Every time I went down to SEPTA-land, I got the distinct feeling that I was riding a system of a former Soviet bloc nation or a poorly funded South American transit system. |
