The Public Service Corporation had two main operating companies. One was Public Service Electric and Gas (PSE&G) which still exists today. The other was Public Service Coordinated Transport (formed when Public Service Railway and Public Service Transportation Company merged in 1928). That was the "Public Service" that ran buses and trolleys. In the 70's, PS changed the name of the transportation division to Transport of New Jersey and in 1982 sold the entire transport system to the State of New Jersey, which had recently formed NJ Transit. The PSEG building on Park Place in Newark is, IINM, on the same site that the old PS building was which contained the trolley and bus terminal. |
