I seems that they (MTA) are determined to abandon the Greenport service one way or another. Its the oldest trick in the book, make the service so lousy that no one uses it & then the MTA petitions for abandonment a/c lousy ridership. The north fork folks should scream for better service.Aside from the present needs, urban sprawl will dictate the need for better rail service on the north fork in the future as the commuter zone expands. The MTA should look 10-20 yrs down the road when it comes to service east of Ronkonkoma. Hampton Jitney is nice, but trains usually don't get stuck in traffic. |
