Maybe re-energize was not the correct word. The 3rd rail does make an audible snap when a train is nearing the station, to me it seemed like the 3rd rail was inactive before the train approaches or not at full power all of the time.Power is taken from the 3rd rail by conductive shoes attached to the bottom sides of the train cars. If an electric train loses all of her shoes, that electric train doesn't move. |
