If you did that in N gauge, it would be noticeable, but easy to get right.

Why don't the cab ends of MU's get them ? I think it is a safety hazard. The Montreal EMU's, which was a physical baseline of the M-7, got them.

Sort of like the varying heights of the ditchlights on the NJT Arrow-3's: it was a function of whoever did it if they got a 6 foot ladder or a 10 foot ladder.
