There is no official policy except for employees for several reasons.As to "Who is right"? I'd say that it depends on the circumstances. Keep in mind that it looks far easier than it is for you to pull yourself up from the roadbed to the platform. The last resort is to go down. If the person falls or is pushed and is coherent and uninjured or slightly injured, help them up without going down yourself. If you do go down, remember that in most cases you will not be safe trying to get under the platform if a train approaches and getting into a niche in the wall, to the extent that they still exist, will usually mean crossing over and then standing next to a 3rd rail as the train passes. If you can, the best bet is to notify a station agent or call 911 and hope for the best, |
