There was a massive "pimping" station at the base of the conduit (at Atlantic Ave) which kept the water flowing into the reservoir at an even level via a force tube. That force tube is underneath the appropriately named Force Tube Ave, which if you look at Google Maps runs directly between Conduit/Atlantic and Highland Park.If you go to this this 1924 map of area you can see the remains of the station, and the conduit before Conduit Ave was built. |
