NIMBY'S would have fought anyway, but they didn't even get a bone. Imagine the Airtrain going down Guy R. Brewer Blvd not making a single stop.I would build a new Astoria Blvd station as close as possible to the old one so it would seem like only losing on stop. But the community would gain with regularly spaced stations going to LGA and Flushing Main St. Ditmars is only a minor destination station. It's just as busy as Astoria Blvd. Ridership on the Astoria neighborhood portion of the line would go up with an extension. |
