Most of them are quite obvious if you're familiar with the area of the map. While obtaining my Masters in Geography at Hunter College back in the late 90's, I had taken a course in GIS Law, and one case under discussion was later resolved with the judgment that a map is a "compilation of facts". This meant that you could copyright your map design, but not the information itself. Therefore it is no longer necessary to use copyright checks.Bob |
