I remember them well, especially the large pimping station at Atlantic and Conduit. I live two blocks from where the tubes were here in Nassau, right next to the Long Island Rail Road. Unfortunately, they recently tore down the beautiful large brick pumping station in Freeport, which was supposed to have been converted into an apartment house. However, the private owner never maintained the structure, it fell into a state of serious disrepair, and it was destroyed. |
