It didn't look like this by 1944. It saw most of it's service lost after municipal takeover. IIRC there was also a fire which damaged it, hastening it's demise. Even during the height of WWII, few people still used it. They also wanted to clear the mess on the other side of the bridge to finish Cadman Plaza. |
