The irony is that on that date three years ago, the IND "A" line had now seen for the first time in its history a first and last day of service of a post-WWII "SMEE" rolling stock fleet each. In this case, it was with the R-10's brand new on that line for the first time on 11/20/1948, and then much later in 2009 with the slanted R-40's retiring off the road from that route.
