The problem is the TA did not purchase enough car borne signalling equipment to operate the line at capacity.If the alternative is to sink millions, if not at least a billion dollars into extending the platforms over some vague timeline then simply ensuring all rolling stock on the Canarsie Line is equipped with a CBTC system costs almost nothing, can be done on a far shorter timetable, and is far easier to implement. |
