We've not touched on this in a while but any fleet can have a bad month. Any line can have a bad month. Any maintenance shop can have a bad month. Therefore to look at the MDBF as an accurate indicator of performance might be misleading. The far more accurate indicator would be the 12 month moving average. You only have to look at the R-46 to see what I'm driving at.In March 2012, the MDBF was 100,290 which was 9.88% higher than the March 2011 MDBF. But look at the 12 month moving MDBF. It's down 9.33% over the same period. Of course, that fleet is divided up between two maintenance shops and you'd have to look and see how each shop's fleet is working. You cannot accurately draw any conclusions based on these numbers alone. They make for interesting comparisons but that's all. |
