If Switzerland still had real power, they would have maintained their banking secrecy laws and told the inquiring U.S. tax authorities to stuff it. Instead, they have given in and seriously weakened their privacy laws. Still, the Swiss model did work very well for many years, and still works pretty decently for the Swiss. I agree it could serve as something of a model more a U.S. that wanted to change it's course. |
