The thread's subject cannot be right. Even with maybe 400 tons of the train being composed of the locomotives, the remaining 7600 tons split over 26 cars works out to around 292 tons per car. That is about twice as much as the most heavily laden cars on the rails. The train was at least 52 cars long, probably much longer, and just happened to stop with the 26th car over the wayward drunk, at which time he got up and walked away.
