So as to not get assaulted in between stations.

Memories are short. A number of years a go c/r Stuart Abranowicz (may have spelling wrong) was operating an R40 slant B train around 103 St. A female customer who was being assaulted ran to him for cover. She got saved, the c/r got shot, paralyzed (sp.?) and died after a few months. If he was in a locked transverse cab, rather than in full view outside the cab in between stations, he would be alive today. We do not want to lose any more c/r's like that.

Freak occurance? Yes. But company policy is when an incident happens, steps are taken to prevent it from happening again: all replacement equipment with transverse cabs.

If you are refering to something else: let's not rehash past discussions. NYCT has no plans to expand OPTO to long trains. The issues involved have been discussed in the past.
