Posted by Gold_12TH on Mon May 21 13:46:14 2012 The effort to bring Long Island Rail Road trains to Manhattan's East Side will soon come under increased scrutiny from the feds.U.S. Department of Transportation Inspector General Calvin L. Scovel III says he will begin an audit of the East Side Access project later this month. The audit is being done because of cost overruns and delays with the project, which the federal government is helping to fund. The Metropolitan Transportation Authority is also expected to announce today a new completion date and the latest price increase for the project.
